My name is Javier M. Hernandez and I am the Founder & President of the National Latino Peace Officers Association Central Texas Chapter (NLPOA CTC).  I, along with five other officers established the NLPOA CTC in December of 2003.  We felt that there are still many issues that need to be addressed in our communities and in our profession.

The 2000 Census has shown that we are the fastest growing minority group in the United States.  Therefore, we believe that we must prepare for the future and those of our communities to become leaders.     In order to do this we must first begin by uniting as ONE.

By creating N.L.P.O.A. Chapter in Central Texas we will be able to reduce the tension between Criminal Justice Professionals and the community we serve while at the same time building a bond.  We must educate ourselves and at the same time help educate those who will become leaders of our communities.  We must help those who may be less fortunate by showing them the paths they can take in life.  We must show them that we have not forgotten who we are and where we come from even though we wear a uniform.
