NLPOA member Arturo Acevedo was sworn in on July 19, 2007

as Austin Police Departments 8^th Chief of Police.

Chief Art "Ace" Acevedo of the California Highway Patrol was selected to become Austin's 8th Chief of Police and first minority to lead the Austin Police Department by Austin City Manager Toby Futrell.  To learn more about the new Austin Chief of Police click HERE.

• 34^th NLPOA National Training Institute and Convention: This years conference is October 17^th, 18th, 19th, and 20th in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Click here for more details or email a local board member or East Coast Vice President Edwin Maldonado.

• New NLPOA National President from TEXAS: Elections for the NLPOA Executive Board were held this year on October 14, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV.  Elected from Texas were Raul "Roy" Garivey as National President, Roque "Rocky Ramos as Mid-West VP, and Javier M.
